One of the best lines ever written goes like this. "You are not in control of your situation. However, you are in control of how you react to it."
Athletic performance is weird. You can feel great but if the technique needed to perform is off it can definitely mess with your head.
Frustration is generally the first feeling that overcomes you and then the anger builds. You must remain calm, you must remain level headed, and you can not let emotions win.
At the end of the day athletic performance was completed. Just because it wasn't the best day, doesn't mean the world will end.

What is life without a vision?
You have got to pursue your goals to the best of your abilities. Whether your goals are big or small. They are your goals and you need to get after them.
Remember that even the smallest amount of time spent working toward something you want is time spent well.
So if you get to the end of the day and don't have a good answer to "what did I do toward achieving my goals today?"
You better take some time right now and put in some work.

Try Harder
Whaf would happen if you tried harder? If you tried just a little bit harder in every aspect of your life?
Could you possible get that promotion you've been after? Could you get off those expensive prescription medications your poor life choices have forced you to be on? What if you could develop a better relationship with your spouse and family?
Not trying to suggest that you're not trying at all. But maybe certain aspects of your life are lacking. What if you just put a little extra focus where in area that you've been neglecting. That extra focus in the areas you've been neglecting quite possibly could allow for all the things you desire to fall into place.
You should never leave it up to chance. Strive for 100% effort in all departments and you could acquire the life you deserve.

Just Jump
Just Jump
If there is one thing I love in the summer it's jumping off of high things in really deep water.
So as a group of us clammer on about going to jump off the bridge one says "I'm scared of heights bro." I shook it off at the time with being too excited to go jump. We get back from the the epic adventure and another says "I had to just jump once I got up there. I couldn't just stand there and think about it."
In training we fear in different ways.
The fear of success is similar to the fear of heights. Often times you'll fear hitting a new PR because after that PR you'll know you'll have to work harder for the next one.
The fear of failure is like what the other person said about just having to jump and not thinking. It's very easy to talk yourself into failing or out of even trying something new because you've never done it before.
So I leave you with this.
In light of success:
Never be afraid of heights, you'll never know how far you can climb.
In light of risk:
Just jump.

If We Were More Like Children
If We Were More Like Children
If we were more like little kids in our training we would be able to accomplish a lot more. I recall watching my youngest daughter trying to figure out how to stand on her own. She would fall over and over and get right back up.
Think for a second if we put this mindset into our daily efforts. Learn to accept failure. Get back up immediately if you fall. Remember that most times what you see as a road block is merely a speed bump.
Now as you develop this mindset learn to set micro goals. If you have 1 pull up you don't immediately start thinking about 10. You think about 2 then 3 and so on. Just like how my daughter wasn't concerned with walking before she could stand. All she wanted to do was stand.
