Just Jump

Just Jump

If there is one thing I love in the summer it's jumping off of high things in really deep water.

So as a group of us clammer on about going to jump off the bridge one says "I'm scared of heights bro." I shook it off at the time with being too excited to go jump. We get back from the the epic adventure and another says "I had to just jump once I got up there. I couldn't just stand there and think about it."

In training we fear in different ways.

The fear of success is similar to the fear of heights. Often times you'll fear hitting a new PR because after that PR you'll know you'll have to work harder for the next one.

The fear of failure is like what the other person said about just having to jump and not thinking. It's very easy to talk yourself into failing or out of even trying something new because you've never done it before.

So I leave you with this.

In light of success:
Never be afraid of heights, you'll never know how far you can climb.

In light of risk:
Just jump.
